3* Shap Wells Hotel, Shap, Nr Penrith, Cumbria.
This splendid hotel which dates from 1833, lies in a private wooded valley, high in the Shap Fells. There are extensive bar and lounge areas in which to relax, Wi-Fi, and the bedrooms are equipped with TV, telephone, hairdryer, and hospitality tray. Some rooms are accessible by lift, but as an older building there may be a few steps throughout.
