About Us

Arun East u3a

Arun East u3a was formed in 2013 when the expanding Arun u3a divided into three. The majority of our groups and activities take place in Rustington, East Preston, Angmering and Ferring.

Arun East is one of over 1000 local groups in the UK run as self-help charities to provide for those no longer in full time employment the opportunity to come together and learn for fun.

What do we offer you?

A wide range of activities, interest groups, trips, holidays, outings and events.

Monthly Meetings & New Members Meetings.  Our Monthly Meetings are held on the third Wednesday afternoon of the month. We have a wide range of speakers.  Following the talk we hold a meeting for new members to learn about our activities, get to meet the committee and ask any questions. Regular updates are given at the Monthly Meetings, in the Members area of our website and in our fortnightly Newsletter. Coffee mornings are held in Rustington and Ferring.

Groups. They are about learning for fun.  We run over 100 groups. Each Group is run by at least one volunteer Group Leader. We meet in a variety of venues including homes, halls, pubs and restaurants and where appropriate outdoor venues. You can join a Group to further, share or develop your interests or to try something completely new. If there is an activity that is not on the list, we are always open to suggestions for new groups and we offer help and support to set up new groups. Once you have joined us you will receive a Groups Directory and access to the Members area of our website where you will find further details and updates.

Outings and HolidaysWe runa range of outings to the theatre, places of interest and seasonal events. Transport is either by coach or car share or bus pass. We organise a number of holidays each year. Recent destinations included Yorkshire, Cornwall and North Wales and the Lake District is planned for Spring 2026.

Events We run a number of events throughout the year for members including quizzes, talks and social events.

Newsletter. Our fortnightly emailed Newsletter keeps members up-to-date with new Groups, Events and Activities at local and national level. If you are not on e-mail your Group Leader can arrange a paper copy.
