PRIVACY STATEMENT
Arun East u3a requires members to provide their personal information so that they can be kept informed about events and activities that are offered as part of the membership. All personal details are retained on our GDPR compliant Beacon management system designed for u3a’s to manage membership. Your personal details will not be shared with any u3a members or other organisations unless your prior permission has been given. Your information will be stored securely and only used to:
- Communicate with you as a u3a member
- Claim Gift Aid on your membership fee, if you have signed the declaration
- Circulate our fortnightly newsletter
- If you have paid for the u3a magazine ‘u3a Matters’, we will arrange for your name and address to be included in the Third Age Trust mailing list
CODE OF CONDUCT
Arun East u3a members are expected to conduct themselves in line with the u3a Movement’s Guiding Principles.
They are also expected to treat each other with dignity and respect. Specifically:
- You are expected to know, follow and promote the Principles of the u3a Movement at every opportunity
- You must always act in the best interests of Arun East u3a and the u3a Movement and strive to uphold its reputation and never do anything which could bring your own, another u3a or the u3a Movement into disrepute or expose it to undue risk
- You must use Arun East u3a’s resources responsibly and only to further its stated charitable
objects/purposes - You are expected to reflect the current organisational policy of Arun East u3a regardless of whether it conflicts with your personal views
- You are expected to abide by Arun East u3a’s policies, procedures and practices
GIFT AID DECLARATION
Are you a UK Taxpayer?
To qualify for Gift Aid you must pay Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax at least equal to the amount Arun East u3a reclaims on your subscriptions and donations during the year. If you are happy for us to reclaim the tax, please tick the box.
Please notify us if you want to:
- Cancel this declaration
- Change address
- No longer pay sufficient tax on your income and/or capital gains

Once you have received your Membership Number you will be able to register on the website for access to the members only section, and officers’ & group leaders’ contact details.
NOTE: The Arun East u3a membership year starts on 1st June.

Our strong preference is for new members to Arun East u3a to apply for membership using the Beacon Membership Management System.
The Beacon payment agent is PayPal, but you DO NOT need a PayPal account, as you will be given the option of paying as a Guest.
Alternatively, you can pay by Bank Transfer by completing and submitting details below.
If you wish to pay by Cheque, please contact the Membership Secretary, who will send you a paper application form.

After joining you will receive a Group Directory and your membership card.
